"Print is not Pure Green:

You are, and I am."

We have a special announcement to make.

Please listen to my personal audio message below.

If you prefer, here is a transcript of the above recording:

BY NOW, AS I'M SURE YOU REALIZE, WE SHOULD HAVE RELEASED VOL. 11. The last few months we have had to face some pretty major challenges and have had to make some tough decisions with respect to the future of Pure Green.

We pride ourselves on being authentic, and transparent. To this end, I want to personally tell you about the changes we are making, and why. As a 100% self published independent magazine we have produced Pure Green for the love of the content, for the love of the community it has garnered, and for the love of print. Our only source of revenue is magazine sales. Subscriptions to print have been declining, both due to our premium cost and now more than ever, the plummeting Canadian dollar. We have discussed many scenarios to continue in print, but these all mean moving away from our core values, "selling out" if you will. We didn't create Pure Green to be a magazine - we created it to be Pure Green. With the dwindling numbers of subscriptions and print sales and the exponential cost increase to produce small print runs, it has become cost prohibitive to print. So with a heavy heart, I would like to personally let you know that Pure Green Magazine will no longer be produced IN PRINT.

BUT, this isn't all bad news - With the launch of the online platform and the introduction of the Pure Green Podcast, the vast majority of our readership has moved to a digital platform. We sent out a survey to our readers to try and understand this shift, and while print is our first love, the response has been overwhelmingly pro digital. It is certainly a more eco friendly medium, and it is clearly the sustainable medium. With our energy and resources no longer divided between print and online, we can move forward with renewed focus and energy.

The financial burden over the last year to continue on with print has been stifling. At first I felt like a failure, then I felt guilty, embarrassed and fearful, but most of all I felt disappointed. It has taken me a great deal of time to sort through all of these emotions and face a reality that print was dying. And it has been extremely difficult for me to announce this. But what is most important is the realization that Print is not Pure Green: You are, and I am. I have big plans and even bigger dreams, and while the decision to move away from print was an agonizing one, it will free up the ability to do so much more!

If you are a subscriber, please know that you have my most heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the support that you've shown us, I really can't say it enough. We couldn't have made it this far without you, so I have given a ton of thought on how best to reward you and I've come up with some ideas. You will hear from me personally on this, so stay tuned. For the rest of the Pure Green community, if you've never experienced Pure Green in print, now is your chance. We're putting all back issues on sale and need to clear our inventory and raise some much needed funds to recover from this shift. I've always worked hard to keep the content timeless, and relevant, so no matter what issues you pick up they are beautiful and reflect the high standard we've become known for.

As an independent publisher, creating Pure Green is among the most challenging and rewarding things I've ever done. I'm immeasurably proud of the work that we do, the stories we tell, and the message we're spreading about living an inspired, conscious life. I feel more passionate about it than ever, and the relationships that I've forged as a result of this work are priceless to me. So know, that even though we're letting go of print, Pure Green isn't going anywhere. We're going to continue to produce new work each and every week with the same attention to detail and beauty that you've come to love, and of course the podcast will continue to thrive and grow, and we cannot forget about the incredibly special in season community cookbook project. Watch for the new life that is being breathed into Pure Green, stay a part of our community and tell your friends. I think this little setback will in fact be the beginning of Pure Green as it was meant to be.

Thank you, from the depths of my soul, for following along on this journey.
