Although the #PGMinseason hashtag project has mainly centered around our community's submissions, we are also excited to say that it has also brought to light the creativity so many of you possess! Meet Katie Cooper author of the blog Pitchforks and Pomegranates and Montanan rancher and farmer. It's a treat to feature her creative online project of mixing fashion and farming for a true feast for the eyes. Read Katie's post below and enjoy more on her own blog!

Summer in Montana is nearly over. Farmer’s are cutting their last fields of alfalfa and wrapping up with grain harvest. It won’t be long before they’re pulling up fields of potatoes and beginning soil preparation for their crop next spring. I’m a native Montanan, born and raised on a ranch/farm in Gallatin Valley. My father’s job revolved around seasons, which in turn meant our family’s lifestyle did as well. The concept of eating seasonally is nothing new and something I’ve embraced over the years. Depending on where you live, this is easier said than done. While living in central and northern California during my 20s, farmer’s markets were everywhere and became a ritual for me on most weekend mornings. Having recently relocated back to the countryside of my youth, I have traveled full-circle and now rely on produce grown in my garden rather than that which is produced by others; it is much more laborious, but infinitely more rewarding. In Montana, the growing season is short, beginning in April (if you’re lucky) or May (more than likely) with a variety of leafy greens and concluding in October with the harvesting of pumpkins and squash. Because summer in Montana is so anticipated and celebrated, I decided to document the colors, textures and shapes plucked from my garden and pair them with fun, flirty summer fashion, all of which I’m featuring on my blog. Each vegetable is paired with a delicious recipe and presented by myself, my sisters, and a few friends in a photo shoot. Check it out. You’ll find that food and fashion are a match made in heaven… or Montana. Cheers!
