Pure Green has found lots of new homes as of late, much to our delight! Among these wonderful shops that stock the magazine is Amelia, a delightful place in Oxford, MS. Walk over the threshold and you will be taken away by all the treasures tucked into every nook and cranny, from locally made wares to all the washi tape you could ever want; browse their selection of independent magazines, and find among them Pure Green! Hooray! If you live in the area, be sure to pop by and say hello to Amelia's wonderful proprietor, Erin, whom we thank from the bottom of our hearts for her support! Read More

Was very excited to see this pop up this morning! So incredible to have had our Wanderlust issue inspire Terrain's Spring accessories picks. I am so very thankful to them for their support of our efforts. Click here to shop their selection or pop into one of their two locations. Happy Tuesday! Read More

Inside Volume 4 we had the opportunity to be among the first to taste the spirits created by Dillon's Small Batch Distillers, a brand new craft distillery located in Ontario's Niagara region, a place well known to wine, beer and spirits enthusiasts around the world. The experience was delightful and it was clear from the start that Dillon's dedication to honest ingredients, meaning that transparency in their process is of paramount importance, is a recipe for instant success. We were smitten from the start by their committment to using natural, local and real ingredients and fragrant botanicals, mixed with sustainable practices and fabulous branding and design. Each bottle goes so far as to list exactly where the ingredients come from, a transparency sorely lacking in much of today's market. We highly suggest you read the full interview with distiller Geoff Dillon inside Volume 4 for the whole story on mastering a true craft. Read More

I'm very excited to share these photos with you providing a tiny little glimpse inside the new issue. Themed 'Wanderlust', this issue centers on travel. It tells real stories of the adventures of our contributors, and it shares the beauty of this world with you, hopefully evoking within you a deep sense of stewardship for this place we call home. Each page holds a treasure, and visually I'm proud to say I think this is perhaps our best issue yet. The contributors who worked on this issue with me have really outdone themselves, and to take in the pages with a warm cup of tea is to spend an few hours dreaming of faraway places.

In Volume 4 of Pure Green we were so very lucky to work with Fig & Fauna. Megan and Rose, the incredibly inspiring duo behind that team, submitted a gorgeous story which remains a favourite a mine. One of the hardest parts of putting together each issue is choosing which photos to print, as there are usually quite a few waiting behind the scenes that never see the light of day, which is a shame! I've been saving a two-part post of unprinted photos from our Fig & Fauna feature for a rainy day, and while today's not rainy, it's certainly frigid. The thermometer outside my kitchen window read nearly minus 30 degrees Celsius this morning and I thought we could all use a little beauty to warm us up, especially after my brief blog hiatus as we put together Volume 5 (now available for pre-order). In today's Hidden Galleries post, I'm sharing images of Megan's home... which she tells me isn't finished but certainly looks amazing to me. Enjoy! Stay tuned for part 2, shots of the farm, tomorrow. In our last issue we were so pleased and proud to have Aran Goyoaga contribute to our Tools of the Trade feature, a fun little sneak peek into the professional lives of great people that serves as the closing feature each issue—the above image is from the feature, it's amazing how much different it looks in layout! Aran is incredibly talented in the kitchen and behind the lens, and her work to produce great, gluten-free food and promote the diversity and deliciousness available in gluten-free cooking is truly amazing. For the last few years Aran has been working on a special treat, a book that compiles her recipes in a beautiful format, inviting you to relish each page and try each recipe! Her book is almost here and you can pre-order it from a variety of places, including Amazon and Barnes & Noble—mine is on the way and I cannot wait! Read More

Canada's largest book festival...

I've been looking forward to this weekend for a long time, as the Word on the Street Festival in Toronto is finally here and Pure Green will be taking part! We have our own little booth, nestled into Magazine Mews (how cute is that) for small publishers. You'll be able to browse copies of our currently published volumes, get discounts on subscriptions, chat about food with Jonathan... it should be a fantastic day. The festival takes place outdoors at Queen's Park in Toronto, this Sunday from 11-6. There are hundreds of vendors and nearly 200,000 people visit each year. This year I'm told David Suzuki and Jian Gomeshi are making appearances!! So put on your boots, tie on a scarf, grab your bookbag and your takeout coffee mug and come by! I can't wait to say hi. One of my favourite elements in Vol.2 was our Backyard Chicken feature - there's just something about those little guys that I love. Also on location, however, were the most adorable little guys... goats! Although we couldn't include them in our chicken article, we still thought it would be fun to introduce you. Have a look see!
