A Toronto Reader Repurposes Curbside Treasures

A lovely reader submission from Jen Selk in Toronto –amazing what you can do with a little ingenuity, creativity and other people's discards!

"The room is furnished exclusively with curbside, goodwill + craigslist
(and, okay, a little bit of IKEA). The desk chair and cabinet were
both garbage-picked finds, the beds are  mismatched box springs and
mattresses bought on Craigslist and from Value Village. I made the bed
skirts by tearing up an old twin-sized duvet cover and the doors of
the found cabinet have a vintage pillowcase tacked in behind the
glass.

I believe in green living, and in general, I try to live green by
refurbishing and upcycling anything I can. If I can keep something
from ending up in a landfill, I will, and often, it's the curbside
finds that end up being the most stylish things in my apartment."
